Let’s face it, we are all guilty of trying to do too much. We try to be the CEO of our small business but also maintain the accounting system, empty the bins and answer the incoming calls. At the end of the day, we end up working 12 hours or more in that day but almost all of it is spent carrying out tasks that do little in respect of taking our new business forward or coming up with creative new ideas.
When you think about it, the reason you started your small business is that you were passionate about making a difference and being your boss. Unfortunately, being your boss doesn’t necessarily mean that you also have to wear all of the different hats in the business and be your worker as well. By deciding which tasks are core and which are non-core you can quite quickly work out which tasks are prime for outsourcing.
Unless you are a qualified accountant and your business is quite simple it doesn’t make a lot of sense to be doing your bookkeeping. If you are not familiar with bookkeeping practices/software it could take 2-3 times as long to get things done. If you then look at the difference between your hourly charge-out rate (potentially multiplied by 3) and the cost of a bookkeeper then it will make even less sense. Get yourself an outsourced bookkeeper!
A virtual assistant can do a lot of those annoying clerical tasks that you either hate doing yourself or you pay someone internally to do. With an outsourced personal assistant, you can get a lot of those annoying tasks done and you only have to pay for what you use. Use a virtual assistant when you are busy and don’t use them when you are not. It’s a win/win.
This is an obvious one. Once again, if you look at the difference in cost between your hourly rate and the cost of having a professional receptionist take your calls there will be a huge difference. Also, with a professional outsourced receptionist your callers will be greeted with a professional greeting every single time.
If you are a marketing guru then it possibly makes sense for you to be maintaining your own website/social media pages and putting together marketing emails. For everybody else, it is probably just consuming a huge amount of your time and you need to get it outsourced ASAP.
This one seems like a no-brainer however you would be surprised at how many small business people do their cleaning. It doesn’t make a lot of sense and that time could be spent far more constructively.
Once you claw back all of that free time you should be trying to apply it to strategy. Spend time looking at new products and services or spend time trying to recruit or upsell customers.
Virtual Reception provides telephone answering services plus virtual assistant services. We would be happy to talk to you about saving you time by outsourcing these non-core tasks to us.
How long is a piece of string? It is really hard to say, however, if each of the services that we have suggested costs less on an hourly basis than your charge-out rate then you will be ahead of the game from the start.
If you are interested in a telephone answering service then head to our sign-up page and sign up for the 7-day free trial. Alternatively, call one of our customer support staff on 1300 893 820 and they will be extremely happy to help you out.
